4.6 million users’ usernames and passwords of Russia’s largest e-mail service “mail.ru” have been disseminated on the Internet. They say that 95 % of these passwords belong to inactive user accounts. It’s noted in a statement by the company that, the passwords leaked to the internet by hackers have been seized. 5% of stolen accounts is under suspicion and the company said that a warning message would be sent to the accounts. About 1 million Yandex’s users passwords were published on the Internet a while ago too.
At the same time, it’s noted that nearly 5 million (4 929 090) Gmail and other Google service users’ accounts are under threat. The relevance of database have not completely been confirmed. They say that just noted 60 % of email accounts are active. The issue is currently being investigated according to Google.
Cyber Security Center,in turn ,recommends to change email accounts’ passwords as soon as possible and to switch antivirus program in your computer.
