ATTENTION! WANNACRY DANGER

On May 12, 2017, a global virus epidemic in the cyber space occurred.

According to preliminary data, the virus, which has a serious impact on the functioning of computer systems and information systems, has spread to more than 75,000 computers in 99 countries around the world. It has been discovered that this virus, WannaCry, has spread mainly through the use of the space available in the file distribution protocol on the Windows operating system.

All kinds of files on infected computers - documents, photos, videos, databases are encrypted, the computers’ activity is blocked by this virus and it requires a certain amount for decoding them.

Microsoft has released an update on March 14, 2017, in the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS17-010 - Critical, regarding removal of detected gaps.

At present, various antivirus programs have been upgraded against this virus.

To be safe from danger, the Cyber Security Center provides the following recommendations to computer users:

  • Instant update (download and installation of "patch") to remove existing gaps in Windows operating systems on your computer and information systems;
  • Do not click on the unknown files sent via e-mail and access link to any other source you do not know;
  • Create backups of important documents;
  • Make sure you have a current and an active antivirus database antivirus;
  • If you do not use any antivirus software, use the Microsoft Defender antivirus software;
  • Check the infections that may be available on your computer with the antivirus software;
  • Follow the safety rules when using the Internet;
  • Apply to the Center if there is a need for counselling about infection or methodological support.
